The Prophet’s Voice

Early Years from Birth

“For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. Therefore, I have lent him to the Lord. As long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord.” And he worshipped the Lord there.”  1 Samuel 1:27-28

The story of Jude’s great-great-grandfather, George Ambrose, alone is worthy of a book. Travelling mostly on foot from the south to the north of England for work in the 1800’s, he eventually settled in the mining community of Eston near Middlesbrough, married and raised a family. A devout Christian, he laid hands on his granddaughter Marion when she was only very young and prayed a blessing over her life, especially for her offspring. On the 16th November 1963 Judith Margaret Mecrow, the youngest of three siblings was born to Marion & Fred Mecrow.

Life was fun and many summers were taken in with adventures in Scotland especially around Lochgilphead amidst quaint cottages. In later years, I was able to transfer some old 35mm film onto DVD and when Jude came out of hospital in Christmas 2020, we were able to enjoy watching early footage of these family holidays. To see this wonderful archive, Jude and her sister Heather in identical clothing each with their hobby horse and Steve her older brother looking on, was very special.

School, horses, music, disco dancing all added up to a beautiful young girl growing into a beautiful young lady. Her soul mate was not too far in the distance……..!!

Prayer

Father, thankyou that even all those years ago you put a prayer in a man called George Ambrose to pray for his offspring to come. I am so glad you answered that prayer with Jude and in later life she would come to know her Saviour just like George did.

We often quote, “Somebody prayed for me” and this is so true. Father, may those who are reading this prayer be encouraged that prayers made so many years ago can still be answered in God’s perfect timing.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen
