Jude’s Legacy: Fruit That Remains

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last………” John 15:16a

Jude’s heart was a servant heart and she was always ready to help in any way she could. It was only natural that her legacy would reflect how she lived here on earth and I would like to share just five things. There are other things that remain much more private regarding her legacy, I know you will understand.

Friends of the Cancer Centre

I had mentioned previously that Jude had benefitted from this charity that operates out of the City Hospital, Belfast.

I remember when Jude’s temperatures were very high and they brought in a machine to monitor her heart. It had been donated by the charity at a cost of £5000.

The Slieve Croob challenge in 2021 was only 2 days after Jude’s promotion to glory but The LORD helped as I had committed to it previously and my friend Andy Lovell was alongside for emotional support. The overall donation from friends was £1500-Thankyou.

Ezra UK

Ezra Aid is part of Ezra UK which collects and transports clothing and other items to Israel for all the Jewish People who make Aliyah or emigration to Israel from the four corners of the world.

“See, I will beckon to the Gentiles, I will lift up my banner to the peoples; they will bring your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders.”
Isaiah 49:22

It’s a powerful work and both Jude and I had been involved in the prayer ministry for years.

Apart from Jude’s clothes, I was able to send her sewing machine which her Mam gave her when she was a young girl. It was still fully operational with all the extras!!

Barnabas Aid

For some years Jude supported this ministry, whether it was the Dalit people of India or Christian Schools in Israel. She always had a heart for the untouchables of society and those who struggled just to make ends meet. The school in Bethlehem was close to her heart.

I was contacted by an old customer of Jude after the celebration of her life. He had noticed that when Jude finished her cleaning early on occasions, she would leave some of her wages if she had not fully worked the hours that day. It touched my heart; I always knew she had great integrity. He said he would work out over time what she had left and then send on to the charity.

Potting Shed: New Testament Church Ballynahinch

After reading the devotional you will already know that Jude loved “pottering about” in the garden at home.

I had been thinking how her legacy may continue and thought a “potting shed” was ideal. It reflects new life, new skills for the students etc etc. It is most certainly a work in progress so I’ll keep you posted on the blog.
