To The Jew First

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

George Santayana

Practically all her Christian walk, Jude always carried within her a deep love for the Jewish people and their land. In the early years she would sing at CFI- Christian Friends of Israel events and later in much prayer with PFI- Prayer for Israel and Ezra, an Aliyah ministry.

One of the greatest highlights we had together was travelling to Israel. While there, we visited Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum. If you are ever given the opportunity to visit Israel, we would recommend the museum as sadly we still live in a world of great hostility towards the Jewish people.

I remember the photograph taken above of Jude as though it was yesterday. Jude, like so many, was moved to tears. Each of those places on the memorial stone was a place where precious Jewish people died at the hands of the Nazi death squads. You would see first-hand the reality of how the Jewish people suffered during WW2 resulting in over 6 million deaths.

I recently watched a shocking video of two Jewish men being attacked in London on the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day.

Don’t kid yourself, antisemitism is still very much alive and in a city near you where there is a Jewish population.

Jude saw quite clearly through scripture God’s plan for the Jew and how in 1948 prophecy was fulfilled with the re-establishment of the state of Israel. She loved the land, the people and especially the music. She would sing along in Hebrew to the many Israeli worship songs she loved specially when ironing!

I’m so proud of you Jude, as I reflect back on the heart God gave you, very precious indeed.

Prayer

Dear Father, its 78 years since the Jewish Holocaust and my prayer is it will never be forgotten. The dangers of forgetting makes it possible for it to be repeated.

Thankyou Father that the Jewish people are back in their own land never to be uprooted again.

However, we still remember the many millions of Jewish people who are still dispersed throughout the world that they would hear the clarion call to return home, especially in the light of the rise of antisemitism.

I thank you Father that you are indeed drawing them back as you said you would from the four corners of the world and even using the Church to make this happen.

All this is in preparation of your Son’s return.

In Jesus’ name- Amen
