Writing a devotion concerning the life & death of a loved one, especially a spouse, is one of the hardest yet greatest privileges one can do.
I’m writing this forward 22 months after Jude’s promotion to glory and my heart continues to ache at the loss of her. I believe that the measure of grief is equalled only by love and I loved Jude immensely. I know all the answers in scripture of what happens after a loved one takes their last breath, I researched them all, they have become part of my fabric and yet even in that knowledge, I still have dark days and it’s mostly down to this, “I miss my darl!”.
I feel an on-line devotional style will help you work through the chapters taking time to think & pray. Those who are reading this may be going through a valley experience personally, it doesn’t have to be cancer. Like me, you may be grieving the loss of a loved one.
I have written a very brief biography in Chapters 1 to 6 which will give you an overview of Jude’s early life & how we met but then the focus quickly turns to the memory of our salvation in Christ, her love for the Jewish people, her heart for worship and our calling to Northern Ireland. The situation then focuses on the main subjects of the book, the Menopause & Leukaemia. I have also added a blog on the site which reflect further on things close to Jude’s heart. Finally, I have added links for further reading recommendations, details of the Bereavement Journey Course & various support groups.
My prayer is you will know that in all circumstances God is Sovereign and whatever comes, has to pass through His hands. Mr Spurgeon, the great preacher said, “His sovereignty is my pillow every night”.
We are pilgrims passing through to Emmanuel’s land…….
