Just When We Thought

“His sovereignty is my sanity”   Shane Idleman

It was such a joy to have Jude home and things were looking good. Now I was focusing on feeding Jude well, getting her strength back and some fresh air. We continued in daily prayer and worship, enjoying the breaking of bread together.

Each Friday was clinic day, but on Monday 1st March 2021 Jude had a fresh biopsy. Jude had already had several. For those who have experienced a marrow biopsy from the bone in the backside will know it is not pleasant. It’s a quick procedure but can have its problems if not done correctly. On one occasion, a student doctor was observing and she held Jude’s hand for comfort. The needle passes straight into the bone to draw fluid from the marrow, it’s the only way they can gauge the condition of the cells. At that, the student doctor laid out on the floor because she couldn’t bare to look!!. I’m not sure if she qualified in the end!!

Even writing this still makes me so proud of Jude and how The LORD gave her strength to endure such a painful but necessary procedure.

In the coming days during a clinic visit, we were taken into a side room where we would learn that the Leukaemia had returned and future options had now ended. We were due to travel to Dublin the following week for a stem cell assessment but this was cancelled. The “cure” road seemed to have ended although we continued to pray for that touch again from Heaven that Jude had already experienced some years ago. Jude was given an oral maintenance chemotherapy along with other medicines and we returned home to what would be 120 days of home life together, apart from the weekly clinic visits on a Friday.

Prayer

There are the times when God’s sovereignty is our sanity, our pillow at night.

We cannot but throw ourselves into God’s arms and continue to trust Him in the valley that seems to become even more dark.

Father, I pray for those in this place who find there is no further earthly remedy that they too, would fall at your feet and receive comfort in their time of need.

To be with the LORD is much better but until then, we can continue to believe for the impossible here on earth.

Man’s extremity is God’s opportunity

In Jesus’ Name, Amen
