The whole subject of the menopause was brought solemnly to us in 2023 with the tragic case of Nicola Bulley, whose body was found in a local river. I know there were other circumstances involved but the menopause featured heavily in this case. It is and can be a very debilitating condition and Jude herself experienced this first hand several years ago.
Through her lengthy period of the menopause, Jude said a tangible, “coldness” had come into her head and she was feeling dreadful. One night, she went to bed lying in a position with her arms crossed like an Egyptian mummy. She said that it would make it easier for somebody to carry her body out if she died during the night!
On reflection, and being right alongside her, she was definitely having a rough ride with this one and I suppose with lots of prayer, sympathy from friends and various amounts of prescription medicines, we were hoping it would at some point stop as quickly as it had started.
But sadly, it was progressive, and after speaking with the doctor he recommended a specialist who had retired but had come back to deal with, “difficult cases”– a bit like a Sherlock Holmes of the medical world!
Fortunately, I had a small private health policy with work and we were able to get things moving quite quickly. I wasn’t sure that when we went into the consultant’s office that day, we would meet a man wearing a deerstalker & smoking a pipe!
Prayer
Father, I pray for those today who are reading this story and find themselves with a situation that seems to worsen by the hour, particularly the menopause.
I know that you can change any situation in a moment for nothing is impossible with you. The woman with the issue of blood just got worse, she had spent all her money on physicians but there was no improvement. It was when she touched Jesus that the flow of blood stopped and she was healed. (Luke 8:43-48)
Today, I ask you who are reading this, to reach out in faith and touch Jesus, He opens doors and is waiting.
