The Pigeon

“I didn’t see it at the time, but it makes sense now…” Andy Gray

Usually on clinic days I was unable to stay with Jude so I would get her a coffee & settle her into the Bridgewater suite. This is an amazing place with amazing staff.

While waiting for the results of the blood test I would go and sit in the car at the top of an open multi-storey car park. Checking my journal for this devotion I came across an interesting entry:

1st June 2021: “While sitting in the car I noticed a pigeon fly from the highest multi-storey car park across the hospital from me and come and land right next to my car. I watched it pick up a twig and fly back. I thought of new beginnings, new life (nest).”

It was only later that I thought,” new destination…..higher!!

In a way, as I write, I was thinking about when Jesus washed the disciple’s feet He said;

 “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” John 13:7

My journal also Thursday 8th October 2020:

“Let Him lead thee blindfold onwards, love needs not to know, children whom the Father leadeth, ask not where they go. Though the path be all unknown, over moors and mountains lone.”   G Tersteegen

Throughout the thirteen months my memory and journal gives testimony to a coming day when Jude would be taken into The LORD’s presence. Don’t ask me why I didn’t see it, maybe it would have been too much. Jude wanted to remain, I didn’t want her to go, so we just believed the breakthrough would come. I don’t think in anyway God was annoyed with our faith stance. He did answer our prayer but He did something differently in the end….He can do that!

Prayer

Dear Father, whatever the reason, you can choose to withhold the full picture from us and in doing so, you bring protection from unnecessary worry. You can use creation and even wildlife to speak to us!

You respect our commitment to pray & our belief in your promises to heal but at the end of the day like your Son in the garden, we simply humble ourselves & pray, “Thy will be done.”

We come in that childlike faith trusting our Heavenly Father who knows what is best.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen
